      本研究旨在設計一套可資診斷國小學生酸鹼概念的評量工具,以此工具進行開放式紙筆問卷與晤談,以探討我國國小學生酸鹼概念的現況及概念發展的情形,並探討學生酸鹼概念與皮亞傑的認知發展階層之關係。
      本研究採用質、量並重的方法,先取小樣本進行紙筆問卷及晤談之測試,然後修訂紙筆問卷及晤談問題,其次利用開放式紙筆問卷對較大樣本進行施測,經分析施測結果後,找出無法由紙筆問卷瞭解學生的概念的問題,進行面談以澄清學生紙筆問卷中陳述的概念,然後抽取少數具有代表性的學生進行半結構性深入地晤談,並利用青少年認知發展測驗量具測量學生認知發展水準,進而探討學生酸鹼概念發展與認知發展階層之關係。
      結果發現學童認知發展的階層與酸鹼概念的理解有關係,認知發展階層較高的學童,對酸鹼概念的認識與專家的概念較為接近。學童對於酸鹼的迷思概念之產生,大致有下列幾大類:1.由日常生活經驗和觀察直覺而得,2.由於日常用語及文字的混淆,3.科學術語與兒童觀之結合,4.學習的誤解,5.學校老師或父母親之誤導。

    Abstract
      The main purposes of this study are: 1. To design an instrument for diagnosing the elementary children's concepts on acid and base, 2. To investigate the current situation of the children's concepts on acid and base, and 3. To assess the relationship between students' concepts on acid and base and the hierarchy of their cognitive development.
      The study paid equal attention to both quantitative and qualitative issues. The steps of the method were: 1. to take a small sample for the pilot study of paper-pencil test and interview and then revise the questionnaires, 2. to take a larger sample and assess them, and 3. to assess the relation, if any, between children's misconceptions on acid and base and their cognitive level of operation which was measured by using the Chinese Version of Inventory of Haget's Developmental Task.
      The study found that the children in higher cognitive level had higher percentage in correct answers about the properties of some acids or bases. Children's misconceptions may originate:
      1. From daily experience and observation.
      2. From the wrong use in language.
      3. From scientific terminology combining children's innate idea.
      4. From misconception learning.
      5. From confusion about the analogies.
      These findings were similar to Head's (1986).
