    Abstract: 吳德旋雖與陽湖諸家往來甚密,但與陽湖派之說顯有不同,反而成為桐城派姚鼐重要繼承者,故吳德旋的文章學理論,最能反映桐城派與陽湖派二文派文風之差異與主張之不同,頗值得研究。吳德旋的文章創作論較為傾向桐城派,主張自然古樸、質而不俚之文,崇尚「柔澹之思,蕭踈之氣,清婉之韻,高山流水之音」,並提出「灝氣潛行」,使「文章之道,剛柔相濟」。在文學創作上,則提出「清雕琢」之論,調和「清」與「雕琢」之作用,以達「清氣澄澈中,自然古雅有風神」。吳德旋之論,兼得桐城派、陽湖派之沾溉,又能出以新意,可謂嘉、道間,善於傳古文法者。
