Abstract:	民國六十八年總統所公布的「國民教育法」，第一條中開宗明義就說：「國民教育依中華民國憲法第一百五十八條之規定，以養成德、智、體、群、美五育均衡發展之健全國民為宗旨。」上述明確規定，目的在使五育均衡發展的教育原則能落實於實際教學活動之中，然而由於「美育」本身的意義曖昧不明，一般教師總以為美勞、音樂等藝能學科就是「美育」，而各藝能學科常缺乏具體有效的評鑑依據，因此在整體的教育活動中，難能獲得應有的重視。任何教育的實施必須要有發展心理學的基礎，才能在漫長的教育歷程中，建立明確的階段性目標，故欲使「美育」真正在教育活動中落實，建立「美感發展」的理論基礎與實徵資料為當務之急。
